When Work, Study, and Life Collide (and How I’m Surviving)

Alright, so can we talk about how ridiculous it is trying to juggle everything as a nursing student? Like, seriously. Between 12-hour shifts, readings that never end, trying to remember what the heck Maslow’s hierarchy actually is (I swear I’ve Googled it 20 times), and, oh yeah just being a human who needs sleep I feel like I’m barely hanging on.

I had a moment last week where I was halfway through writing a care plan, had three tabs open on wound management, and my manager at work texts me asking if I can cover someone’s night shift. At that point, I just stared at the screen and whispered “nope.”

Thing is, I love nursing. I really do. But the academic side of it? The constant pressure to write perfectly referenced, detailed, and clinical-sounding essays when my brain’s fried from an 8-hour shift? Not the best. I know I’m not alone here everyone in my cohort’s kinda drowning a little, whether they admit it or not.

A classmate of mine (shoutout to Laura) actually saved my butt when she told me about a Plagiarism-Free Nursing Assignment Helper she used once when she was dealing with family stuff and falling behind. I was skeptical at first, like, aren’t these services just shady? But she showed me her paper, and it wasn’t just copy-paste junk it was actually legit and customized to what she needed. Honestly, not saying I’ll rely on stuff like that all the time, but it made me realize that sometimes, it’s okay to ask for help outside the usual.

Also, the judgment around getting help with assignments is kinda dumb. Like, we’re all burnt out. Some of us are supporting families, working night shifts, dealing with mental health stuff, or just trying to exist. If outsourcing a paper or getting some help with structuring an assignment is what keeps you sane and still lets you learn, then why not?

Side note how are people even fitting in placements on top of everything else? Mine starts next month and I’m already prepping for the inevitable breakdown. If anyone’s got tips on surviving those 6 a.m. hospital starts and still getting your assignments in on time, please hit me up. I’m all ears (and caffeine).

Anyway, this was mostly a rant, but also a little PSA: you're not lazy for struggling, and there are ways to stay afloat. Whether it's forming a study group, getting a second brain to look at your essay, or yeah, even using a writing service once in a while, do what you gotta do. Burnout is real, but so is bouncing back.

Let’s keep it real in here share your chaos stories, tips, hacks, or just vent. We’re all in this wild nursing journey together
